Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Welcome to the final newsletter of this school year. This final term has certainly been a long one, with lots going on! I would like to thank those of you that were able to attend our whole-school art exhibition this week- it was absolutely fantastic to see so many of you and to see all of the artwork on display. I know that the children had a great fun creating it all and they should be very proud of themselves.
It has been an absolute pleasure to watch the Year 6 children enjoy so many of the rites of passage that being a ‘Linden Leaver’ entails. The Leavers’ Assembly this morning was such a magical way to end their journey at Linden. We wish them all the very best of luck for September and beyond.
As we head into a well-deserved break for the summer, I would like to say a few ‘thank-yous’. Firstly, to the children…you have had a brilliant year and have impressed us all with your resilience and hard work. Secondly, I would like to thank all of the staff. Year on year, you go over and above for our little people – you are so appreciated and I am extremely proud to be working alongside you. Lastly, I would like to thank all of our parents and carers for your invaluable support this year.
I really hope that you all have a wonderful break over the summer and I look forward to seeing all of the children return for the start of term on Wednesday 4th September 2024.
Best wishes,
Lucy Collins

Well done to our KS2 choir who performed in a choir festival at Denmark Road High School.
They performed with such enthusiasm and sounded wonderful.
We then had a very brave Year 6 pupil that performed a solo and was awarded a certificate for outstanding achievement.
He even made the judge cry with his emotive performance of A Million Dreams!
The children then enjoyed an afternoon of vocal workshops with the other schools that attended.
On Wednesday 10th July, year 2 went on a trip to Slimbridge Wetland Centre to further our learning in science this year (and to have fun!). After we arrived, we split into 2 groups and started our activities. Class 6 started off sketching some of the beautiful wetlands to add to our Linden Art Week exhibitions, while Class 5 headed off to do some pond dipping. We caught all sorts of little creatures in out nets including newts and pond skaters, and we learnt about how all the wildlife has an important part to play in its habitat.
Our next activity was watching feeding time for the otters, Sam and Tilly, followed by lunch and a play on the playground. In the afternoon, Class 5 and Class 6 swapped over from their morning activities and then it was time to head home. Everyone had a fantastic time, and the children were, as always, great representatives of our school.
On Thursday 11th July, children from Rocksteady bands and our Linden Choir took part in our termly musical performance. The hall was packed with our adults from home who had come to support the children, and it really was a fantastic celebration of all the children's hard work from this term. The band's teamwork was clear as they performed together, and we also had some very brave soloists from our choir. Everyone performed with great confidence and skill - a big well done to all!
We are delighted to be able to share with you some photographs of the reception children during art week.
Summer Fair
The sun was shining on our Summer Fair this year and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying the event.
There was lots to do, with bouncy castles, PCSOs, an ice cream van and external stallholders. Plus the huge variety of fun games stalls, including Soak the Teacher, Beat the Goalie, Welly Wanger, Tin Can Alley and much, much more. We introduced four new stalls, Spin the Wheel, Bottle Tombola, Treasure Cups and a Craft Table. The raffle was, as always, very popular, with many great prizes up for grabs. We also enjoyed another fantastic display by the children from The Dojo Karate Academy.
I would like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers that helped on the day, both parents and staff. Without their help we could not have held the event, so it is greatly appreciated. Also, thank you to everyone that donated cakes, raffle prizes or items for the Tombola/Bric a Brac stalls. These are always very popular, so your items really do help to make them successful.
Lastly, thank you to everyone that came along to support the event. I am delighted to be able to tell you that a fantastic amount of approximately £1000 was raised (after expenses were deducted).
We have some amazing sponsors that generously contribute to our fair, enabling us to raise more money for the school.
** TG Lettings **
** King of the Castles **
** Wheatley’s Whippy **
Plus the following donators to our raffle
Tuck Shop
Some of the left over items from the Summer Fair were sold at the Year 6 show and at the Tuck Shop this week. The amount raised will be added to the Summer Fair total above. Look out the Tuck Shop opening when school starts back in September.
Donations
It is a pleasure to update on some of the donations that we have been able to make to the school this year.
We have funded the Bouncy Castle for the Year 6 leavers day once again and also successfully obtained a donation of ice creams from Walls for the Year 6 children to enjoy as well.
Earlier in the year we funded two sheds, one for Gardening Club and one for KS1, and also provided funds for the timber needed to repair the Raised Beds area so that it can continue to be used by the children. We contributed to the Christmas class parties, something which like the Year 6 bouncy castle, has become an annual donation opportunity for us.
End of Year Summary
This year has seen us bring regular events and projects such as the Summer Fair, Tuck Shops and Christmas Cards plus new events including the Linden Bar and our Winter Hamper raffle.
We are always looking for volunteers to join our team. Any help is always appreciated, however big or small. If you would like to find out more, please contact [email protected]
We hope that you all have a wonderful summer break and we look forward to providing more exciting events once school returns.
