Dear Parents and Carers,
As always, these last few weeks of the Summer Term are packed with lots going on and we still have some lovely events yet to come!
One of my favourite community events of the year is the Summer Fair. Firstly, thank you to Mrs Nelmes and the ‘Friends of Linden’. It takes a huge combined effort and a lot of time to organise and it was a massive success. Secondly, thank you to our staff who helped with the running of stalls – especially those who volunteered to get pummelled by wet sponges… good job Mr Wellington and Mr Brown! Finally, thank you everyone who was able to come along to support us last week. It was so lovely to see so many of you (and other family members) and we hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Over the last few weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming in our new Reception children as their transition events have now begun. It has been lovely to see them in school and exploring their new classrooms. Yesterday, the rest of the school had their ‘move up’ afternoon and many of our current Year 6’s have been visiting their new Secondary schools over the last few days.
Coming up this term, we still have our whole-school Art Week and Exhibition, the Year 6 Production, Year 2 and Year 5 trips and much more. Please check out the ’Dates’ page of this newsletter to make sure you know what’s happening.
I will be sending out some information next week in readiness for September – please keep your eyes peeled for this.
Lucy Collins

In June, a group of children from KS2 took part in a Tag Rugby Festival at Grange School hosted by Widden Rugby club. The children had a great day and played really well and we were really proud how they represented the school and the rugby values of Teamwork, Respect, Discipline and Enjoyment.
Pupil Leadership Team - Gloucestershire Bundles
The Pupil Leadership Team, excitedly loaded up the school minibus to visit Gloucestershire Bundles. After the fantastic response to our toiletry donation event, we arranged to personally drop off the items. We had so many lovely items to donate and had so much more than we could have hoped for. Upon arrival we were invited into the warehouse where we could see for ourselves the incredible job the charity does. It was massive, filled with so many essential items that people may need. The different sections were explained and it was lovely to see that our donations would top up the shelves.
We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who made a donation. We hope we can continue to support Gloucestershire Bundles.
Many of our Year 5 children chose to take part in Bikeability this year, learning how to ride their bikes safely on the road. They all did extremely well and passed with flying colours! A special mention for Andrei who amazed us all with his fantastic pedalling on his bike!
Key stage one were very excited to have another visit from our local PCSO, PCSO White.
We spoke about people who help us, ringing 999 in emergencies and learnt new facts about the emergency services (the police, ambulance and fire service.
Year 5 hosted a whole school summer fete today and it was a huge success!
Over this year, Year 5 have worked with Liz and her team from the charity ATE on developing their life skills, particularly focusing on teamwork and resilience. For the past two weeks, the children have worked in their groups to plan and organise an activity for the school summer fete. Stalls included, spin the wheel, den making, miniature football, cup stacking and many more!
All of the children across the whole school had an opportunity to attend the fete and spend their 'Linden Lira!' It was fantastic to see such creativity and independence from our Year 5's as they worked on their stalls.
The Mayor and Sherriff of Gloucester came to see the children at the fete and praised them for their teamwork and for the hard work they put in to making the fete a success. We are all really proud of the children in Year 5 today. A huge well done to all involved!
Year 6 have been raising money by creating mini businesses.
They had to turn £5 into profit, which ended with a sale yesterday. Thank you for all your support. Year 6 have been able to raise money to go towards their end of year celebrations!
