Good Afternoon Parents and Carers,
I hope you had an enjoyable half term break. Welcome back to the second half of the summer term! We have had a wonderful first two weeks back, starting the term with a poignant assembly on D-Day; celebrating the sacrifices made and hearing the story of a survivor. Last week, Year 1 enjoyed a trip to Nature in Art where they took part in two workshops and Year 3 continued their learning about Ancient Greece, with a visit to the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. In addition, Year 6 have just completed their 2-week intensive swimming lessons – we are so proud of the progress that they have all made.
I would like to thank all of you who were able to attend our Key Stage 2 Sports Day yesterday – the weather was kind and it was amazing to see so many of you here, cheering the children on. A special thanks to those who took part in the parent races - it is always a highlight for the children (& staff!). We are keeping our fingers firmly crossed for dry weather as we look to our Key Stage 1 Sports Day on Wednesday 26th June.
I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
Best wishes
Lucy Collins

Year 3 Trip to Bristol Museum and Art Gallery
Year 3 visited Bristol Museum and Art Gallery to enrich learning as part of our History unit this term.
We did a workshop, where we studied some exclusive Ancient Greek pottery. We also looked at different types of pots and their uses, and sharpened our detective skills to try and figure the functions of artifacts back in Ancient Greek times. It was then great fun having an explore around the museum!
Year 1 had an amazing day out at Nature in Art. The children got to make some sculptures together in the style of the artist Andy Goldsworthy using a range of natural objects including leaves, shells and wood.
They learnt how to make some colourful bowls using tissue paper and PVA glue.
They met an artist who painted and decorated objects using bright colours, walked around the gallery and the gardens to look for sculptures.
A huge thank you to the volunteers and Nature In Art team who helped to make the day memorable for all of the children.
Here are just a few examples of the fantastic Reading Rivers that the children have produced! Thank you again to all those who have made such a wonderful effort, they have really helped inspire so many of us to read something new!
