Happy half term!!
I would like to begin by sharing how impressed we all were with the maturity with which our Year 6’s approached their SATs – a massive well done to all the children, they are superstars! It was lovely to be part of the Year 6 auditions this week for their upcoming production of ‘The Greatest Showman’. The children were so brave and it looks set to be another fantastic end of year production. Next half term will be the Phonics Screening Check for Year 1 and the Multiplication Tables Check for Year 4 and parent end of year reports.
Next term is always jam packed with events, including Year 6 swimming lessons, our Key Stage Sports Days (fingers crossed for sunshine and no rain), the Year 6 Residential, Year 5 Bikeability, our whole-school ‘move-up’ afternoon and creative arts week. Please keep an eye on our diary dates. As we return for our final 7 weeks of the academic year, we have all got our fingers crossed for the re-appearance of some sunshine and warmer weather - please can you ensure your children have named hats, a named drink bottle (no glass or fizzy drinks, please) and either have their sun cream applied in the morning before school or are able to apply it to themselves when in school. Can I also please remind parents to ensure that children are coming into school on their P.E days in correct kit:
- Plain grey or black shorts
- Plain white t-shirt or polo-shirt - no logos
- Black daps
- Plain grey or black tracksuit bottoms - no logos
- Plain grey or black sweatshirt - no logos
- Trainers for outdoor PE
I wish you all a wonderful half term break and we look forward to seeing the children back in school on Monday 3rd June.
Finally, it is with a heavy heart that I have to share some sad news. This week, Mrs Hopkinson (Midday Supervisor) has passed away. Mrs Hopkinson worked at Linden Primary School for over 25 years, before retiring in 2020, and I know that many of you will remember her fondly. Our thoughts and love are with her family at this sad time.
Lucy Collins

On Monday, Linden was fortunate to have a visit from author B.Ware who shared with KS2 3 chapters of her brand new book 'Warning: Magic Can Be Dangerous.'
B.Ware then spent the day visiting classes in Years 3-6 and helped to inspire the children to develop their own ideas for story writing. The visit was a huge success and we hope the children who purchased the book enjoy reading it. We'd love to have some book reviews!
We are delighted to be able to share with you some photographs of our EYFS Forest School Stay and Play Session this week. Thank you to all the parents that were able to attend.
Welcome to Term 5’s Gardening newsletter!
What a busy term we have had planting, planting and…more planting!
We started with lettuces as the seeds we had planted last term have grown nicely.
We moved on to planting potatoes, tomatoes and strawberries. We also planted peas from seeds. We are looking forward to seeing the new shoots when we come back after half term.
Our garden looks glorious and all the plants are thriving. The children love to look at it every playtime.
We were very lucky this year to have lots of left over vegetable plants to reach the whole school community at our Vegetable Plant Sale on Thursday 23rd May.
Thank you to all staff, parents and carers who purchased plants for their own growing adventures this spring. We raised around £50. All donations will go towards purchasing watering cans for the children.
With many thanks,
and
Happy Growing!
Linden Gardening Club
As part of our continuing work as the Pupil Leadership team, we would like to support our community. The charity we have chosen is Gloucestershire Bundles.
We would love it if you could support us in collecting toiletry items that we can donate to them. We are already off to a flying start, with items already coming in. We have placed a box in the school office for donations to be made. It will run from the 14th May to the 19th June 2024.
We really hope you can help us!
