Dear parents and carers,
The sun is shining and the weekend is here!
It has been a busy few weeks and this half term is whizzing by. All staff involved want to commend the Year 4 children that took part in Young Voices – their behaviour was impeccable and we hope they enjoyed the experience as much as the staff that attended with them. Last Friday, all Year 4 children performed a selection of the songs to the rest of the school before our Celebration Assembly.
This week our youngest children have been out and about in our local area and exploring the local community.
With this being such a short term and so much going on, please keep a close eye on our diary dates for upcoming events. We will be into the Summer term before we know it!
Have a lovely weekend.
Lucy Collins

Maths
Year 3 have been dividing by grouping this week. We had lots of fun using Numicon to show how many groups and remainders there were.
Geography
We have been looking at earthquakes in Geography this week where we tried to make our own earthquake-proof housing out of spaghetti and marshmallows. We had lots of fun and talked about materials and the adaptability of settlements built near plate edges. There were even a few houses that survived the earthquake test!
On 24th January 2024 Year 4 had the amazing opportunity to attend the Young Voices concert at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham. Year 4 worked incredibly hard throughout the autumn term to learn a range of songs and actions for the concert where they performed with over 6000 children from schools across the South West.
This is an annual trip that Linden does with Year 4 and is something that is always very special to do. As you can see from the photographs, the children were fully immersed in the experience and did not stop smiling throughout the day. The children began the day rehearsing songs with the other schools and then ended the day with an evening performance in the arena to parents, friends and family that were able to attend. Not only were there school children singing, there were street dancers, guest vocalists and amazing musicians that also performed. It really was an experience full of ore and wonder and something that I hope the children will never forget. We hope Year 3 are excited about attending this trip next year when they are in Year 4!
Mrs Davidson
In the morning, everyone was bursting with excitement. At 11 O clock we left in the coach and it took about two hours to get there. When we arrived, everybody gasped. We went into the main lobby to have our lunch. After lunch, we went to the toilet and went into the arena and minutes later, found our seats. The music conductor came onto the stage and rehearsed.
After the rehearsal had finished, it was time for the main concert. Breakdancers came onto the stage and danced while we sang a song. My highlight was the drummer who was only thirteen! We then sang a couple of more songs and at end fireworks lit up the stage. We then got the coach home and lots of people fell asleep. The next day, I was so tired.

We have been very lucky to receive a donation of Read Write Inc books from Coalway Junior School.
We would like to say a huge thank you to them as this donation will be a great addition to our collection and means that we have a good supply of books to use for teaching and home reading books.
Please can you all remember to try and read at least three times a week with your children as this will impact their progress across the curriculum.
