Dear Parents and Carers,
Not the lovely planned end to the week any of us had wanted, but the children have had a great day marking the King’s Coronation nevertheless. We will aim to hold a family picnic next term when the weather may be a little kinder.
The next few weeks are busy ones as we approach May Half Term, starting with our Year 6’s sitting their SATs assessments next week – we wish them the very best of luck, we know that they will be amazing! The following week, Year 3 are off to Bristol Museum and Art Gallery and Year 5 are going to Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
I am sure that many of you will have noticed a new face in the school office, our new Administrator Mrs Limbrick, and join me in extending a warm welcome to Linden Primary.
Finally, I wish you all a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend and we will see the children back in school on Tuesday.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 3 had the PCSOs come to visit them again to talk to them about being safe on the internet and who we can tell if we see something that makes us sad or worried. We talked about what we use to access the internet at home and at school. We were able to think of trusted adults that we can tell if we are worried when using the internet- mummy, daddy, teacher, grandparents and older siblings. The children were sent home with a hand print to allow them to write and draw five trusting adults that they can tell if they are worried when using the internet.
Further information about how to keep your children safe can be found on the NSPCC and Internet Matters websites through the following links:

Year 1 had lovely sunny weather for their forest school session. They were looking for signs of Spring as part of the science curriculum. They found lots of blossom on the trees, buds and catkins.
They were really excited about the number of minibeasts that were hiding under the logs and had great fun counting how many snails they could find.
School photographs are taking place Monday 22nd May. Your child MUST have a red school jumper or cardigan in school with them. Photographs being taken are full class and Year 6 Leavers photographs.
All children will need to come to school in normal school uniform (not PE kit).
We kick started our Gardening Club by planting sunflower seeds. Firstly, we sieved some compost to make it fine and labelled our pots. Then, we planted our seeds, covered them with more compost and watered them well. We also replanted sweet peas, plants donated to us by B&Q, our amazing partners. We had great fun!
Next, we are waiting for the sun to help our plants grow. Come on sunshine!!!?☀️?

Please can we ask that we are made aware of your child's appointment in advance, as this enables the office to inform the class teacher and have your child ready for you promtly when a parent/carer collects.

Coronation Colouring Competition
We are very excited to be running a Coronation themed colouring competition. Colouring Sheets are available in school now and until Wednesday 10th May. The closing date for the return of forms into class is Friday 12th May. Each colouring sheet is 20p and can be purchased in class. We hope that lots of children will take part and we are looking forward to seeing their beautiful artwork.
Silver Smarties Challenge
Thank you to everyone that brought in their Smarties tubes. We received an amazing number, with over 250 tubes returned. The counting is underway and winning class along with the total amount raised will be announced next week.
Coffee Meeting
It was lovely to meet with parents at our informal meeting recently. It provided an opportunity to catch up with existing volunteers and meet some new potential ones. Some great ideas were discussed. Look out for the next date and come along to meet us. Refreshments are provided and children are welcome.
Sponsored Read
We will be running a sponsored read event over the May half term. This event has been very successful in the past and directly provides books for every classroom. It will end with a book fair on Friday 9th June.
Summer Fair
The Summer Fair will be held after school on Tuesday 20th June and the planning has begun. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved with the preparations or could help on the day. All help welcomed, big or small. We would also love to hear from you if you are interested in having a stall at the fair. Or maybe you work for a company that might be interested in donating a raffle prize. Please email [email protected] to get in touch.
Have a lovely weekend.
