Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fast and furious term this has been! We have been very impressed with the maturity with which both our Year 2’s and Year 6’s approached their SATs, and it is lovely to hear snippets of ‘Matilda’ around the school, as they begin to practise for the Year 6 performance.
The first week back is our Jubilee Celebration week. The children will be taking part in a range of Jubilee related activities during the week, culminating in our family picnic on the afternoon of Friday 10th July. Fingers crossed for sunshine and no rain.
Have a wonderful half term holiday! We look forward to seeing the children back in school on Monday 6th June.
Yours sincerely
Lucy Collins

Linden Primary School has high expectations for attendance. Our Policy states every child should attend every day that they are required to attend.
Holidays should not be taken in term time. Absence for leave in term time may only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. The application for leave must be made in advance and in line with our attendance policy. The Head teacher must be satisfied that there are truly exceptional circumstances based on the individual facts and circumstances of the case.
These attendance guidelines were shared with parents before Easter.
We expect parents to notify the school every morning of absence by 9.30am, unless the length of absence is known in advance. We will contact you if your child has not arrived in school by 9.30am and no message has been left. If we do not receive an explanation, or if the explanation is unsatisfactory, we will not authorise the absence. You may leave a telephone message 01452 527020) or e-mail to [email protected].
We understand sometimes it is unavoidable that medical or dental appointments fall during the school day, please could we ask for a copy or screenshot of the appointment letter or text for our file.
Scooters and Bicycles
Please can we remind all parents and children that scooters and bicycles are not to be ridden in any of the playgrounds for safety reasons.
Weather
With the warmer weather approaching can we remind you to ensure your child has suncream applied before school, a named hat and a named water bottle.
If your child was present for the school class and Year 6 Leaver's photographs, they will bring the proof home in their bookbag.
The photos will be available to view on the Kittle Photographic Portal from Thursday 2nd June.
The deadline for returning your school photo orders (to get free delivery to the school) is Thursday 23rd June. This is to allow time for Kittle Photographic to produce the photographs and get them to us for handing out before school closes for the summer. After the 23rd June orders may still be made online, however postage will need to be paid for delivery to your home.
If you did not receive the QR code for your child please let us know by emailing: [email protected] and we will email this QR code to you. Please be aware that we will not be able to access the photographs on the portal until after the 2nd June also.
Year 5
Year 5 had a fantastic day at The Steam Museum in Swindon, on Friday 6th May. We learnt all about the role of women during WW2 and had great fun exploring the museum, learning more about how trains and the rail works were involved in the war. A great day was had by all!
On Tuesday, Year 3 took a trip to Bourton on the Water. Whilst there, we took a walk around the beautiful village, took a traffic and population survey, went to the park, had lunch at the village hall and sketched the stunning river. The children and adults thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the glorious sunshine!
This week, Year 1 have had some very exciting additions! We’ve welcomed 9 baby chicks into our classrooms. We have loved looking after them so far.
Year 3
In Year 3 we have been writing non-chronological reports about Badgers, linked to our class novel 'The Wild Robot' and also to our forest school project with the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
The children have been using secondary sources to research interesting facts about badgers and have written some fantastic paragraphs on appearance, habitats and the diet of badgers.
Last Thursday, they came into class to a surprise visitor! One of the Linden staff members brought their badger model into school to show the children. This was fascinating for the children to see and really helped them to visualise the size of the badger.
Dear Linden parents,
Thanks to your support and efforts more than £2800 has been raised (so far) for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, via the hospital charity. This will go towards the purchase of a Gamma Scanner.
All in all it was a beautiful day to do the challenge and I was excited to get up there and make the most of the amazing views! Would I do it again? Not really, none the less it was an amazing and surreal experience for a good cause.
Once again thank you so much for supporting me, and if there is anyone that still wants to support the cause- the fundraising link is still live.

Many thanks
