Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy Friday! The return of some much-needed Spring sunshine has really lifted everyone’s spirits this week.
As ever, another busy couple of weeks in school. Both Mrs Davidson and myself have enjoyed being able to get into classrooms and talk to the children about their learning and what they are enjoying doing in school. After many years of use and wear and tear, we are excited that our MUGA is finally being resurfaced. We hope that this will be finished shortly after we return from the Easter break.
I would like to thank everyone for their kind donations to the Ukrainian appeal that Jenny Hergest ran two weeks ago. The response was incredible! Off the back of this, in partnership with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), we would like to invite our children to wear non uniform, something yellow and / or blue – the colours of the Ukrainian flag on the last day of term, Friday 8th April (please no football or rugby kits). A donation of £1 per child will be gratefully received to support the appeal, this can be made via Parentpay or cash on the day.
I hope you are all able to enjoy the lovely weather forecast for this weekend.
Many thanks and best wishes
Lucy Collins

Last week, Linden took part in British Science Week. The theme for this year was ‘Growth’ and all of the year groups planned activities around this theme.
The week was kickstarted by a visit from Renishaw Engineering. They are a very successful engineering company based in Gloucestershire. The assembly introduced the children to the world of engineering. They could how the products they designed and engineered have helped the medical world grow. They also enjoyed seeing the large Gromit dog which the company developed for fun!
EYFS talked about growth and visited the forest school to find examples of growth all around them. They talked about seeds and how these grow into plants.
Year 1 went digging for worms! They compared and measured the size of the worms they found. The longest worm they found was 15cm!
Year 2 planned an investigation around the planting of vegetable seeds. Let’s hope they grow!
Year 3 visited the forest school area and designed and built nest for gentoo penguins using sticks and other things they could find. They tested their nests against different weather conditions e.g. rain, wind, to see if they were strong enough.
Year 4 and 5 investigated life on Mars and designed their own creatures!
Year 6 are investigating micro-organisms and the growth of bacteria and mould on bread.
What a huge success Red Nose Day was again this year! A huge thank you to Darcey and Dawid, our Head Girl and Boy, as well as the rest of our School Council for organising a ‘joke tastic’ day! Children not only wore red and raised money but also brought their best jokes! We raised £225.50 so thank you to all your contributions!
Well done to Muhammad Aadam (Reception and Key Stage 1 winner) and Charlie H (Winner for Key Stage 2).
See below our write up from Darcey our Head Girl!

The Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme & HAP programme (Holidays activity programme)
The Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme, funded by the Department for Education, will be returning this Spring break between 11-14th April for children in reception to year 11 who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
We have also recently secured some additional funding so that we can once again extend our offer to all families as part of the HAP programme (Holidays activity programme- NOT funded by the DfE).
We encourage all HAP and HAF families to get in contact with their local offer to see what is available to them. To find out where to get more information about your local offer, you can click here.<https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/holiday-activities-and-food-programme/follow-your-district-on-social-media/>
As you may be aware, one of our parents, Mrs Hergest collected items for a supply convoy that will be left for the Ukraine.
These pictures don't show all of the donations but definately show our parent's generosity - thank you all so much:
