Another busy week! A highlight for us all was the visit from the author, Alex Bellos. Alex was extremely complimentary about our children; how well they engaged with him and their behaviour. He followed up his visit with an email, commenting that, ’It was a pleasure to be welcomed into the Linden community, and I was struck by how helpful and mindful every interaction was - with the children, support staff, and teachers. I fully understand how much effort goes into making these things work, and we really appreciate that you did it, and did it so well.’ Thank you to Mr Brown for organising such a lovely event.
Unfortunately, these past two weeks have seen the number of staff, children and families testing positive on PCR and LFT’s growing again. Thank you so much for your ongoing support in testing, informing us of any positive results and helping us keep any disruptions to a minimum. If you need to access remote learning for your child(ren) this can be found on Microsoft Teams – please contact the school office if support or guidance is needed. As a result, we have made the decision to ask staff to wear masks in communal areas within the school and ask that parents/carers continue to wear masks on the playground – this will be reviewed at half term.
Have a lovely weekend, stay safe.

Arriving at School
Please can we remind you that children should not be arriving at school too early and being left on their own. There has been a group of children outside the gate a few times without their parents or carers. If you need your child to come to school early we run a Breakfast Club that can be booked via the SZapp.
Milk
We have lots of surplus milk - if your child is on the list for milk, but does not want it, please cancel this with www.coolmilk.com
Activity Club bookings are still open on the SZapp
These are now available for you to make a second choice for your child should you wish to do so.
Bookings are made via the SZapp
Football
If your child is doing a football club they can come into school in their school PE kit (football boots, shin pads and socks are ideal but not essential).
Netball, Karate & Street Dance
If your child is doing netball, karate or street dance club they can come into school in their school PE kit.
Yoga & other clubs
If your child is doing a Yoga club or any other clubs, they can do this is normal school uniform.
Collection points for your children after the clubs are on the SZapp.
Head Lice
At the moment there are a few children in the school who have head lice.
Please check your child’s hair tonight. The following method of detection is effective:
Wash the hair using ordinary shampoo, then use a wide toothed comb to straighten and untangle the hair. It is easier to do this with wet hair and using hair conditioner.
Once the comb moves freely, switch to a fine tooth comb. Make sure you start at the roots and comb down to the ends of the hair. Check the comb for lice after each stroke as you work through the hair section by section. Then rinse out the conditioner and repeat combing procedure in the wet hair.
This procedure should be followed every other day until head lice and eggs have all gone. Lotions may be used but not all lotions are capable of killing eggs. Check for baby lice hatching out from eggs 3-5 days after you use lotion and again at 10-12 days.
Please check all family members at the same time.
Thank you
Rocksteady Assembly
On Thursday 20th January, we had Jamie from Rocksteady Music join us for a launch assembly. Our children in keys stage 2 learnt about pop music, rock music, drums, guitars and so much more! It was a fantastic experience for the children, and everyone has the opportunity to sign up for music tuition on a band instrument of their choosing (see information attached).
Alex Bellos Visit
Boys Football
The boys played well against a good Tredworth side on Thursday evening, Amadou getting the only goal for Linden.
Special thanks to Charlie and George's dad, Rich at Monster Clothing for sponsoring the kit - the lads look awesome in it and are proud to wear it!
