Dear Parents and Carers,
Well done, we’ve made it! What a busy few weeks we have had.
Can I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your very cautious approach to Covid this term. With the numbers of positive cases rising, alongside the usual autumn bugs and issues with the PCR testing, it has been challenging to say the least.
It was so lovely to see so many of you at the church for our Harvest celebration, well done to all of the children who took part. To be able to share the songs and readings that they been have practicing, in front of an audience, felt very special to both the children and staff. We are really proud! I would also like to say well done to both Class 13 and 14 who today have performed a dance showcase. They have worked extremely hard this term on their class dance routines – the collaboration, the teamwork and the passion that they have put in to these has been incredible.
It has been brought to my attention that some parents have been dissatisfied with the school photographs and their associated cost. I would like to apologise for this – we are currently looking into alternative options for our future class and individual photos.
We look forward to welcoming the children back into school on Tuesday 2nd November, following our staff INSET day on Monday 1st November. I hope you all have a great half term holiday, stay safe and thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes
Lucy Collins

Year 3 and Year 5 Swimming
We previously shared with you a message from Swimwell Teaching Services about the swimming lessons - a further update on the 19th October advised they still haven't had the required report and that there was a meeting scheduled.
When the situation at Swimwell is clearer we will look at solutions regarding payments already received. We are reluctant to book an alternative until we have further information as this would incur further cost to parents i.e. coaches.
As soon as we have more news, we will be in touch with you
Year 6
A letter came home with your child regarding secondary school choices. You will need to make your choices by the closing date of 31st October.
School Photographs
Your child should have brought home a proof card for their school photograph.
All orders are placed directly with Kittle online.
The deadline for returning your school photo orders (to get free delivery to the school) is Friday 5th November. This is to allow time for Kittle Photographic to produce the photographs and get them to us for handing out. After the 5th November orders may still be made online, however postage will need to be paid for delivery to your home. The photograph orders that have been delivered to the school will be handed out sometime during the week commencing 22nd November
Reception
In Reception as part of Black History Month we read the book Look Up. We then looked at different famous people and from both were inspired to make our own rockets like the little girl in the book and created our own physical challenges linked to the Olympians we looked at.
Ten Pin Bowling
Some children from Key Stage 2 were selected to represent our school at the GSSN Ten Pin Bowling Festival. We had a great time and did the school proud.
STEM Club
In STEM club this week we were looking at volcanoes and how they erupt. We used cola and mentos and vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to reenact what would happen when a volcano erupts.
Year 4
We were mixing cornflour and water to learn more about solids and liquids. We found out that the mixture poured like a liquid but when we hit it or squeezed it, it acted like a solid.
Year 5
Year 5 had a great DT lesson on Thursday, we were learning about where our food comes from and how it is reared, grown and caught. We looked at how grain is harvested and turned into bread and then had a go at making our own bread rolls. A great day had by all!
Linden Boys
Last Thursday, the boys took the short trip to Finlay School for an away day. Every single player put in 100% and were rewarded with a 3-0 win. Well done boys!
This Thursday, the Linden boys travelled to Coney Hill for an away day. Unfortunately, after a hard battle and going up 1-0, we lost 2-1. The boys played a fantastic game of football in our first loss of the season.
