Dear Parents and Carers,

Wow, what a year!  In the blink of an eye it has gone and we are at the summer holidays.

Once again, it has been a year of Covid craziness and uncertainty, however we have shared some magical moments and  I now look forward to September -  a time when, fingers crossed, Linden Primary School can return to a sense of normality and business as usual.  The year has definaitey not ended in the way that any of us would have liked though we are so grateful that our Year 6’s were able to experience some of the rites of passage they so deserved prior to the self-isolation.  We wish them the very best of luck as they move onto their secondary schools after the summer holiday.  We will miss them all!

From today, schools will no longer be required to carry out contact tracing. From this point onwards, close contacts will be identified and contacted by NHS Test and Trace. 

If your child has symptoms for COVID-19 or have tested positive using an LFT, they and other members of the household should self-isolate. You should immediately order a PCR test for them. If the PCR test is negative, they and other members of your household can stop self-isolating. If your child obtains a positive PCR test result, NHS Test and Trace will contact you, using the details you registered when ordering the PCR test. You and/or your child will be asked a series of specific questions designed to identify who your child has been in close contact with. 

You will be asked to provide the contact details, if you know them, of any individuals - or their parents or guardians - who have been identified as close contacts. NHS Test and Trace will then get in touch with these close contacts and provide appropriate instructions or advice. NHS Track and Trace will indicate who must self-isolate for 10 days after the onset of symptoms. They will also notify you of the day on which the self-isolation period ends. 

Should your any child in Year 1, 3 & 5 who have been in school this week test positive between today and Friday 23^rd July, please also inform myself by ringing  07951606121. 

We will be writing to you all again towards the end of August regarding the beginning of the new academic year, but for now we wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer and we will see you when term begins on Monday 6^th September.

How old are you?  

21 + 20 - my 40th birthday was in lockdown on April Fool's Day!

Describe yourself in 3 words:

This is hard!

Kind - I think of others
Creative - at home and school
Hardworking - work hard and am dedicated

What was your dream job when you were younger?

I really wanted to be in a band because I am musical - I can play instruments:  cornet, piano and saxaphone.  I wanted to work on a cruise ship and travel the world.

Do you have any children? 

I have three children - Beau is 4years old, starting school and very cheeky.  Xanthe is 10years old and Miles is 12years old and in Year 7.  

I also have two stepchildren - Josh is 26years old and Annabelle is 24years old.

What are your hobbies? 

What was your first impression of Linden School?

The size! My old school only had 190 children, compared to Linden School at over 400 children.  Staff were kind and lovely and the children nice - like one big family.  

Is there a subject you feel should be taught more in school?

Music - raise the profile and feature it more in everyday lessons.  Also more Forest School opportunities especially in Key Stage 2.  

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?

Lots I would like to have, but I decided I would like magical powers to get rid of coronavirus and we could go back to normal.  

You can go anyhere in the world, but you have to stay there forever.  What three things would you take?

Another hard one!  I may have cheated.  My family, my pets (two cats named by the children Yoda and Loki) and my photos to have lots of memories with me. 

What is your spirit animal?

Butterflies - they cope with change and are adaptable,  based on the job that I do and how we have to adapt constantly and approach change with positivity.  

What is the best and worst thing about being a Deputy Head?

Best thing - I can help Mrs Collins to make a positive impact on the school and lead the school to make changes.  

Worst thing - not enough time to spend in class and see the children.  I'd much prefer to do this than battle to complete my 'To Do' list.

What would make a perfect weekend?

Being with my family.  I love weekends being with my children and not have to rush about to clubs and activities and that we can have lunch at the pub and go for a nice walk - quality time!

ITV West

Following on from this (we had to ask a lot of parents / carers in a very short space of time if they were happy for their child to feature in this news bulletin) we have decided to change what photo / film / media permissions we ask for from you so that we can include as many children as possible in future.

If you haven't already, please take time to consider the permissions you give us below (& you can change your mind at any time). Please note, if we don't receive a form from you, we will continue with the current permissions we have on file. If we have never received a form from you then your child's photo/ clip will not be included in anything.
