Dear Parents and Carers,
This term seems to have whizzed by and I can’t believe we are already at half term! Mrs Collins and I would like to thank you all for your support and ongoing cooperation.
Pupil Questionnaire (1 per child)
Please can you spend 5 minutes with your child/ren to support them to complete the online pupil questionnaire at home. Please ensure that a separate questionnaire is completed for each of your children using this link:
Linden Primary School Pupil Questionnaire
There are lots of things to look forward to when we return after half term, more information will be sent out after the break. We all hope that we’ll be able to enjoy some warmer, sunnier weather during our final term of this academic year!
I hope that you have a relaxing half term break and we all look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 7th June.
Best wishes

Year 1
Year 2
Look at the progress of our fruit and vegetable plants!!! We recently planted our small seedlings on to give them more space. Mrs Goodman, from our school office, stopped by and took home all of our leftover plants to plant them on her allotment. She also talked to us all about her allotment, we found this VERY interesting! Mrs Goodman is going to keep us updated on our goods.... We hope to be tasting our produce soon.
Year 3
In science this week, Year 3 have been looking at soil samples. We now know that soil is made up of many components such as water, organic matter, air and rock.
Year 5
In Year 5, we have been studying The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We invented our own characters that could be found in Narnia.
Year 6
Summer Term 1
This term in KS1 Wrap Around Care we have been extremely busy! Our theme this term was “Flower Power and BEE Ready!” which means we have been learning all about how to protect our bees and flowers whilst creating some fantastic crafts and some delicious sweet treats! It’s been a brilliant term full of fun and laughter (and a bit of mess!) despite the weather not always being on our side! We have made the most of the sunshine playing outside and using our outside classroom and have sheltered from the stormy rain clouds in the warm Pod too! Your children’s imaginations have bloomed wildly these past six weeks and it has been lovely to see them enjoy themselves with their friends, expanding their friendship groups and growing in confidence! We are all BUZZING for next term to see what exciting things are in store for us and are all eager to get stuck back in!

Registering for free school meals can benefit your child and the school.
Your child could be entitled to:-
- £1300 worth of extra support and opportunities as well as —
- Free school meals, worth up to £400 per year.
Make sure you have registered for Free School Meals as soon as possible.
Please take the time to read this about registering for free school meals. It could really help the school and the opportunities and support we offer your child.
Reasons for registering
Your child will have access to a varied menu, providing nutritious food and it represents a saving of about £400 per year and/or
In addition, the school receives an extra payment from the government, based on its numbers of Free School Meals Pupils.
Please also register, even if your child is currently entitled to Universal Free School Meals (i.e. in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2), as the school only receives funding from the government for each child registered for Free School Meals.
Does my child have to eat a school meal if I register?
While it is recommended your child eats a school meal, due to the nutritional value it provides, this is optional – we would ask though that you register regardless of whether or not they want a meal so we can receive this funding.
What is the Pupil Premium?
We will receive approx. £1300 for every child registered for Free School Meals from the Government, providing us with a very important boost to school funds. This will allows us to provide extra support such as extra tuition, learning assistants/partners or breakfast/after-school clubs. If you register this year then we will receive the Pupil Premium next year.
How will this benefit my child?
Although the school as a whole will benefit from receiving this extra funding, we will use this funding to provide targeted support and provision to individual children who we know will benefit from additional provision.
No one will know you have registered and it will not affect any other benefits you are claiming.
