Well another fortnight has gone by in a whirl! The children have enjoyed taking part in ‘Walk to School’ week and have embraced it, even though the weather has been somewhat changeable!
We have so much to look forward to this Autumn – in a different way. Details of our Harvest Festival Week came out to you via email and we hope you will join us in supporting Gloucester Feed the Hungry and Gloucester Food Bank with donations (in a carrier bag to the classrooms).
Can I please remind you to ensure that the office have your correct contact details so that we can email the upcoming Autumn report cards for your child. If you are unsure, please contact one of the office staff.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please make an appointment to see me through the school office.
Best wishes
Lucy Collins
Reception
Reception children have had a very busy time enjoying themselves and learning. They were thrilled to take part in Walk to School week collecting their badges and they have had a chat with Witch from the book Room on the Broom.
Year 3
In Year 3, we have been learning about Prehistoric Britain in History. We have looked at the different pictures that would have been drawn on cave walls at this time. Firstly, we tea stained some paper and then went outside and used charcoal pencils to recreate some of these drawings.
Year 4
The children have made 'clouds' in a jar in science and on Wednesday taught their teacher to make a jam sandwich, involving some interesting instructions like put the butter on the bread.
We made origami beaks in in science. This helped us to demonstrate how different animals have adapted to suit their environment. We also had a lot of fun doing it!

Message from the Friends of Linden
We are delighted to announce that we will be running the Christmas card project again this year. More information coming soon.
Harvest Festival
Further to the message sent out to you all this week, our Harvest Festival celebrations are different this year. During the week commencing Monday 19th October, the children will have the opportunity to learn more about the harvest period and take part in harvest related activities in their classroom. Vicar Ruth Fitter, from St Paul’s and St Stephen’s church has kindly prepared a video for us to share with the children instead of our usual harvest assembly and Harvest Festival service at the church.
This year we are splitting our donations between the Gloucester Food Bank and Gloucester Feed the Hungry.
Dogs
A reminder that dogs are not allowed on the school site (even if held in your arms). However, if you are walking your dogs then they can be tied up in the school car park along the front railings (away from the entrance, please).
Flu immunisation
The Immunisation Team will be at school in December. It is important that you consent or decline the flu vaccination via the online consent form. A failure to do this will result in further contact from the Immunisation Team to ensure that you have received the offer of vaccination. The vaccination is a quick and simple spray up the nose
You can complete the form online via this link:
The School Office have spare copies if needed - email [email protected] and we will arrange to send a copy home via your child.
Parent's Evening and Autumn Term Reporting
In the week after half term (week beginning Monday 2nd November) an ‘Autumn Term Report’ will be emailed to you from your child’s class teacher. This will summarise how your child has settled and will identify some next steps or areas that will be worked on in the weeks that follow. Please ensure that the school office have your most up-to-date email address as soon as possible.
Following this, should you require a further telephone consultation with the class teacher, you will be able to book a slot via the SchoolZine App (SZapp). We will let you know when the bookings will be opened. We will have to be strict with the timings and slots will not be able to run over the allocated 10 minutes.
Covid-19
If your child has a new continuous cough or a high temperature (defined as 37.8 C or above) or a loss/change to sense of smell/taste, please keep them at home (and isolate) for 7 days. Please let the school office know as soon as possible and arrange a Covid test.
Isolation and Home Learning
Just a reminder that your child has all their logins and passwords in the back of their reading records, please remind them to always have this with them in their bookbag.
Payments
Breakfast, After School Care (WrapAround) and school dinners need to be paid for in advance preferably by Parentpay. A reminder that your child must be booked into Wraparound care in advance.
Scooters and bikes
Please do not ride scooters and bikes on the school premises, they need to go straight into the bike sheds, as accidents happen when children ride them around the front playground.
Coats
Now that the weather has turned colder and wetter, please ensure your child brings their coat to school with them - even if they arrive by car, as we try to get them outside to play every day.
