Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a busy week in school and I would like to say a special ‘well done’ to the Year 6 children that have taken part in Bikeability – fantastic listening, fantastic role models.
A highlight of both mine and Mrs Davidson’s week has been holding year group assemblies to introduce our value of the term. This term we are focusing on the value of ‘perseverance’ as it ties in nicely with the return to school for all children and how we are working to build their resilience during these challenging times. I wanted to share a little image that the children enjoyed…
As no doubt you realise, we are constantly reviewing our safety procedures in school in order to make our environment the best it can possibly be for everyone; Gloucestershire County Council are also doing the same. We have been advised about some updated guidance on Open Days and Parents’ Evenings, with the recommendation being that they are to be avoided for the time being. Normally we would hold our Parent/Carer Consultation Evenings before half term but this year, but we will not be able to have face-to-face meetings. We are currently working on a way of communicating how well your child has settled and their targets - further information will follow. Of course, if you are concerned or have a query about any aspect of school provision please do not hesitate to contact either their class teacher (via [email protected]) or myself at any time.
We have had a number of children this week who have been absent as a result of having some Coronavirus symptoms. Fortunately, all results received to date have been negative but we would of course inform you if someone in your child’s year group bubble were to test positive. Many thanks to those families who have kept us informed of any Covid-19 news as it is vital that this important information is shared with school. Therefore, if your child or anyone in your household does receive a positive test result please inform school as a matter of urgency; should you receive a positive result outside of school hours or at the weekend, please alert me via [email protected]. Thank you to the families whose children have been using our home learning resources during their absence from school. Our new permanent home learning platform is being set up early next week so you will all soon receive full instructions on how to access this should the need arise.
I hope that you all have a lovely weekend!
With best wishes,
Lucy Collins
Letter for parents about COVID-19 symptoms
Public Health England have produced a letter for schools to distribute to parents which explains when a person requires a coronavirus test and what the symptoms of coronavirus are. The Department have asked us to share and circulate this letter amongst our parents.
The intention of the letter is to help prevent children being taken out of school unnecessarily and answer some of the questions parents may have around testing.
Well done to all of our Stars of the Week!

Please encourage your child to try our new improved menu which can be found below as a PDF link but is also on our website.
Isolation Learning and Remote Learning
We are currently working on our Remote Learning provision.
More information will be available soon as to what Home Learning Platforms are available to you and your children.
In the meantime, if your child needs to self-isolate, but is well enough to continue learning from home, you can email the office who can give you the link to your child's year group's temporary store of learning resources on our Google Drive. Reception parents should monitor Evidence Me for current learning information.
More information about Remote Learning will follow soon.
Communications
Please ensure that you keep the school office fully up to date with any changes to your telephone numbers, email address or other contact information - it is vital we are able to reach you quickly and effectively in the current circumstances.
Walk to School Week
Linden Primary School will be taking part in the National Walk to School from Monday 5th October-Friday 9th October.
We will be learning about how walking helps to keep our bodies and minds healthy as well as encouraging the children to walk to school at least once for this week.
The children will have class wall charts to fill in each day and have the opportunity to earn daily stickers and even a badge for taking part.
More information can be found on the Walk to School website.
New Security Measure
When parents are on site (between 8.45am & 9.15am and 2.45pm & 3.15pm there is a security system in place to access the school office. You will see a buzzer to the side of the door to request access to the office reception. Please only come to the office if absolutely necessary - email [email protected] or call 01452 527020.
Stationery & Toys
A polite reminder that due to the Government's guidelines, please remind your child not to bring stationery or toys into school with them. Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.
School Photographs
On the 23rd October we hope to have Fraser Portraits go ahead with the school's photo sessions. Please remember smart uniform and a smile!

Linden Primary School's Governing Body
For those of you that are new to Linden Primary School, we would like to introduce our School Governors.
The Headteacher is responsible for the school management on a daily basis. Strategic long term targets and policies are agreed with by governors. The aim of a governing body is to maintain and improve the standards of education for the children at the school.
Our governors bring a wide span of skills and experience together for the benefit of the school. They are elected or nominated by various stakeholder groups to maintain this breadth of expertise. If you wish to make contact they can be reached by emailing [email protected]
