Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome Back!!
We are so proud of the way the children have settled back into school and taken on board all of the new school routines. Seeing and hearing the school full of children is amazing and staff are loving getting to know their new classes.
Thank you all for your support with the staggering of the start and end of the day. I am aware that it is difficult for some parents and makes starting your work day more complicated – we appreciate your patience. Please can I take this opportunity to remind parents that we asking for any queries or questions for the office staff or teaching staff to be done over the telephone or via email unless in cases of emergency.
I am excited to tell you that we will be resuming our hot dinner provision from Monday 21st September – more information and menus will be sent out next week. For those not entitled to a free school meal, payment through ParentPay is required.
I hope that you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes
Lucy Collins
Reception
Reception children have enjoyed starting school and meeting lots of new friends. They have had great fun exploring their new environment and learning the school routines. Mrs Pope & Mrs Brentley
Year 1
Year 1 have settled in really well over the last week and we are so happy to have them back! They have enjoyed exploring their new classrooms and working within the different learning areas, as well as reuniting with their fellow classmates. So far, we have worked really hard on our Phonics, Number work and we are really excited to start learning more about some traditional tales in our 'Once Upon a Time' theme this term. Mrs Gardiner & Miss Helps
Year 2
Year 2 have shown how keen they are to get back into their learning. They have loves seeing their friends again. We have spent time going over our phonics and reminding ourselves of the key expectations when we are writing. In Maths, we have been recapping over our number bonds up to 20. The adults have been so pleased to see how enthusiastic the children are about their learning. Mr S Wellington, Mrs Barnard & Miss Maile.
Year 3
Year 3 have had a flying start to the year. Their transition into Key Stage Two has been fantastic and we as a year group are so glad to see smiling faces back again. We have started reading our novel, 'Stig of the Dump', and the children are already totally immersed. We have also started looking into levers and linkages in DT, where we have designed our own hand-waving mechanism. We are so pleased with our amazing start and can't wait to see more amazing learning this term. Mr J Wellington & Mrs Langford
Year 4
What a delight it has been having Year 4 back! We are really impressed with their knowledge on Romans and enthusiasm for their learning, it was hard to tell that they had been off for so long! We are really enjoying our new book ‘The Iron Man’ and it has been great to see the children really begin to use their imagination. We are really looking forward to reading more of their work! Miss Siney and Mrs Perry
Year 5
Welcome back Year 5! We are looking forward to lots of learning experiences this year. We've started off reading 'Holes' by Louis Sachar and they're already loving it! Mr Cooksley & Miss Bebber
Year 6
Year 6 have settled back into school like they haven't been away. We have two classes of hard-working and responsible role models who are doing themselves proud and are very keen to take on some jobs and responsibilities in their classrooms and around school.
We've started reading 'The Nowhere Emporium' which has already led to some fantastic writing and has given one or two children the opportunity to show off their Scottish accents! Miss White and Mr Brown are looking forward to a very exciting year. Mr Brown & Miss White
Whole School Curriculum Overview
We have been working really hard as a whole-school team to rebuild our curriculum with the children's needs right at the centre. We will continue to develop our curriculum as we gain insight into gaps in children's understanding and any missed learning.
In the coming days, we will be communicating with you about 'Remote Learning' where we can continue to provide learning opportunities, even if a child is unable to be in school. We are closely following the Department for Education guidance with this.
In the meantime, we are continuing to plan a broad and balanced curriculum for the coming months, whilst also ensuring that we are identifying and plugging any gaps in key learning areas, such as Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
Message from the Friends of Linden
Hello everyone, we hope you have all had a good start to the new term. We would like to extend a very warm welcome to the new parents and children in Reception, and hope that they are starting to settle in well. Normally at this time, we are busy planning events, but this is not quite as easy at the moment. We are looking into possible options, and will update when we have any more information.
In the meantime, if anyone is interested in finding out more about what we usually do, please contact us at [email protected]
