Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to begin with thanking everyone who helped to make World Book Day so amazing – the children looked incredible. They all enjoyed the day, especially the reading buddy session where the KS2 children shared books and stories with the KS1 children.
We have also hosted some special visitors this week. We welcomed 5 teachers from schools in Nepal to Linden on Tuesday and Wednesday. They spent time in classes exploring how children in the UK learn and loved speaking to the children and sharing activities with them. A special mention and thank you to the members of the school council, who enjoyed a hot chocolate with Pragya and Sudeep and exchanged some very special gifts and Class 12 who worked with the teachers on a growth mindset workshop. It has been amazing to see the children so interested in the Nepalese culture, traditions and geography.
This morning members of Year 4 have taken part in a Shakespeare Festival at Henley Bank secondary school. Mrs Langford and the children have been rehearsing hard for the past few weeks and they performed their act in front of parents and other schools – a massive well done, you were all amazing!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please make an appointment to see me through the school office.
I wish you all a lovely weekend.
Kind regards
Lucy Collins
Headteacher
Visit from PCSOs Chris & Claire talking to Reception and Year 6
First stop was reception recapping on what they learnt during internet safety week. We were super impressed with what they know.
We then visited Year 6 to discuss how their social media accounts and apps they use can leave a digital footprint. We explained the importance of leaving a positive footprint and #BeKind

Junior Wardens Police Dog and Firearms Visit
Year 1 - Walk into Gloucester
Year One really enjoyed their walk around Gloucester on Wednesday 4th March. They found lots of examples of human geography and completed lovely observational drawings of the Gloucester Cathedral. We made it back to school before the big rain cloud came over and completed some more observational drawings of Gloucester Docks.
Visit from Local Artist
On Tuesday 3rd March we had a visit from a local artist called Bryony Hopkins. She worked with some groups of children to discuss illustration as well as show some examples of her work. Then she did three workshops all about different story books. The children all had a great time and produce some brilliant art work.
Girls Football Match
Away against Churchdown Village School
The girls were very excited for their first game of 2020- the first round of the knockout cup against Churchdown. We made a great start to the game, battling against a team that were much bigger than us. Unfortunately, about half way through the first half, we went a goal down. Our girls showed great determination though, and Kaci-Mai scored a fantastic goal to level things up before half time. The game was very evenly matched, however Churchdown managed to score another two goals before the final whistle leaving the score as 3-1 to them.
Boys Football Match
Away against Kingsway School
On Thursday the Linden Football team went to Kingsway school to play the quarter finals of the cup. The boys played amazingly and put everything into the match. Linden came away with a 0-2 WIN - Meaning they are now in the semi - finals!
This Thursday (12th March) the boys are playing the semi - finals at home. Let's get a huge crowd for this one after school Linden, bring your scarves!
Netball Match
Away against Kingsway School
A really good game against Kingsway, the children played really well and had a great morale. Unfortunately they lost 3-6. Good effort, team!
