Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Welcome to the final newsletter of this school year. This final term has flown by, with lots going on! I would like to thank those of you that were able to attend our recent whole-school art exhibition it was absolutely fantastic to see so many of you and to see all of the artwork on display. I know that the children had great fun creating it all and they should be very proud of themselves.
It has been an absolute pleasure to watch the Year 6 children enjoy so many of the rites of passage that being a ‘Linden Leaver’ entails – Residential, ‘Grow a £5’ Challenge and their Year 6 Production of ‘Beauty and The Beast. The Leavers’ Assembly this morning was such a magical way to end their journey at Linden. We wish them all the very best of luck for September and beyond.
As we head into a well-deserved break for the summer, I would like to say a few ‘thank-yous’. Firstly, to the children…once again, you have had a brilliant year and have impressed us all with your resilience and hard work. Secondly, I would like to thank all of the staff. Year on year, you go over and above for children and I am extremely proud to be working alongside you. Today, we said ‘goodbye’ to some of our staff:
- Mr Brown, who is off to his first Deputy Headship in another Gloucestershire School,
- Miss Preece, who is moving on to work within a pre-school setting,
- Miss Borg, who is taking some time away from teaching to travel,
- Mrs Allen, who after 25 years at Linden is retiring.
We wish them all the very best of luck. We would also like to say ‘good luck’ to Mrs Langford who is starting her maternity leave – we can wait to hear of the safe arrival of Mini Langford and to Miss Pearson, who is getting married over the summer. Lastly, I would like to thank all of our parents and carers for your invaluable support this year.
I really hope that you all have a wonderful break over the summer and I look forward to seeing all of the children return for the start of term on Wednesday 3rd September 2025.
Best wishes,
Lucy Collins

To all in the Linden family
I wanted to send a message to say goodbye and to place on record my sincere thanks to everyone in the Linden community. I have so many memories that I will treasure and Linden Primary School will always have a special place in my heart. From the minute I joined I felt like I was part of something special, and for 13 years Linden has been my home away from home. I really can't quite believe it's time for me to move on!
To everyone - children, parents, grandparents, carers - thank you for your warmth, your support, your kindness, your generosity. (And Class 5 - thank you for my Liverpool shirt!)
Wishing you all the very best for your summer holidays and for the future!
Mr Brown

Summer Fair
With the high temperatures continuing, the sun was shining on our Summer Fair again this year. It was lovely to see so many children enjoying themselves. As always, it was packed with lots to do, the usual Bouncy Castles, Ice Cream van and some external stallholders. Plus, the huge variety of fun games stalls, including Soak the Teacher, Beat the Goalie, Hook a Duck, Treasure Map, Golden Carrot and much, much more. We’ve set ourselves a challenge in the last few years to bring some new stalls to the fair each year, including Spin the Wheel and Bottle Tombola last year. We succeeded again in our mission for this year’s event with the introduction of four new stalls, Higher or Lower, Ring to Win, Fidget Toy Lucky Dip and the very popular Candy Floss machine.
The raffle always offers many great prizes to be won, and this year was no exception, with over 40 great prizes available. We also enjoyed another wonderful display by the children from The Dojo Karate Academy. We have been very fortunate to have our local PCSO join us for the last few fairs, and this year, we were also able to have the local fire crew join us, not only bringing along the fire engine for much excitement but also helping to cool the children down with the hoses.
I would like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers that helped on the day, both parents, wider family members and staff, particularly given the high temperatures. Without their help we could not have held the event, so it is greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone that helped in the lead up to the event, with wrapping fidget toys, sourcing and collecting prizes, planning tasks or purchasing items. There is so much that goes into to organising an event on this scale and all help is hugely appreciated, however big or small. Also, thank you to everyone that donated cakes, raffle prizes or items for the tombola/bric a brac stalls. These are always very popular, so your items really do help to make them successful.
Lastly, thank you to everyone that came along to support the event. I am delighted to be able to tell you that a fantastic amount of just over £1000 was raised (after expenses were deducted).
We have some amazing sponsors that generously contribute to our fair, enabling us to raise more money for the school.
Plus, the following donators to our raffle
Companies that Kindly Donated to the Summer Fair
Tuck Shop
Some of the left over items from the Summer Fair were sold at the Year 6 show and at the Tuck Shop last week. This added a further £200+ to the funds raised, which will be added to the summer fair total. Look out for the Tuck Shop opening when school starts back in September.
Sponsored Read and Book Fair
This is the 4th time we have organised a Sponsored Read and we were blown away once more with the support for this event. A staggering £2063 was raised through sponsorship money! Including a proportion of the book fair sales, the contribution from Usborne was an amazing £1556 on top of this free. Meaning that the school had £3619 to spend on books. Thank you so much to everyone that took part in this event. We will be doing a presentation in September to showcase the books that were purchased.
Funding / Donations
It is a pleasure to update on some of the funding that we have been able to give to the school this year.
- Year 6 Leavers Day - we funded the Bouncy Castle once again. We also supplied the candy floss machine and ingredients as well as obtaining ice lollies from Walls.
- Ice Lollies - a Friday treat during the recent hot weather, gifted to all children in the school
- Sponsored Read Books - over 350 new books purchased
- Class Dictionaries - 130 dictionaries were purchased in the Spring term for KS2 children to use in class
- Easter Lollies - a little gift for all children in the school at Easter
- Christmas Class Parties - this is another of our regular donations each year, making a contribution to enable each class to have some pre-Christmas fun
- Reception New Starter Packs - a welcome pack to all new Reception families who joined the school in September
Additionally, we secured donations from Asda Cashpot for Schools, ice lollies for Year 6 leavers from Walls, PE equipment from Super Movers for Every Body and Oxstalls Sports Park and Parentkind Be Ready guides for next year’s Reception children.
We are currently working with the school to organise a large donation towards some much needed IT equipment for the children. This will utilise a significant amount of the money we have raised in recent years, donating to a very worthwhile project. And we have some more exciting projects coming up next year, so watch this space.
End of Year Summary
This year has seen us bring regular events and projects such as the Summer Fair, Tuck Shops and Christmas Cards. The Linden Bar event retuned for the second year, this time with an Easter theme. And we ran our 4th Sponsored Read event.
We are always looking for volunteers to join our team. Any help is always appreciated, however big or small. If you would like to find out more, please contact [email protected]
We hope that you all have a wonderful summer break, and we look forward to providing more exciting events once school returns.
