Dear Parents and Carers
Happy Friday and happy last day of term!
Firstly, I would like to thank those of you who were able to attend our Parent Consultation meetings last week – it was great to see so many of you. We hope you found them informative and were able to share the celebrations with your children. Although they were the last face-to-face meeting of this academic year, each child will receive an end of year report in July.
We are looking forward to a fantastic term ahead, with lots to get excited about - such as the Year 6 Residential and our Key Stage Sports days, just to name a few.
It will be a busy term, with our Summer 1 being just 19 school days long. Staff and pupils will be focusing on working hard to achieve end of year targets, especially for those in Year 6 who will be taking their SATS tests the week beginning the 12th of May. There will be a Y6 breakfast club that week to get them fully prepared (more details to follow). We are very mindful of not putting extra pressure on the children but encourage them to focus fully and to do their best. We continue to push for high attendance, especially at this time so the pupils are fully prepared. If you have any issues with getting your child into school, please phone the school office or speak to Mrs Begum for support.
The excitement will also be building around secondary school visits for our Y6 pupils and welcoming new parents of the children due to start school in September.
As always, please keep an eye on our diary dates and thank you for your ongoing support. Have a lovely Easter break.
Best wishes,
Lucy Collins

The Linden Boys travelled to Longlevens Primary School to play Beech Green in the final of the Intermediate Large Schools Cup competition on Saturday 5th April (3pm kick off).
The scene was set with a beautiful day and a lot of excitement in the build up. Unfortunately, after a slow start we conceded 3 goals within the first 5 minutes which really put us on the back foot. We grew into the game as it went on and managed to get a goal back just before half time.
Sadly the match ended 4-1 with Beech Green going on to win. I am very proud of the boys' performances this season. It has been a season full of ups and downs but we have fought hard right to the end! Well done and we can't wait to get started next season.
Year 4 Visit to St Paul's and St Stephen's Church
Last week our Year 4 Children visited St Paul's and St Stephen's Church, we are delighted to be able to share with you some photographs.
This week EYFS had a visit from HSBC bank, they told us a story about characters Ed and Bunny and taught us how to keep our money safe!
EYFS had a great time this week with our latest Stay and Play session. This time we were in the classroom enjoying some Easter crafts and outside showing our grownups what we love to do in the sunshine! Thank you to everyone who joined us.
Message from the Friends of Linden
Friends of Linden
What a busy few weeks it has been. We started the term with the Sponsored Read and a Book Fair and ended it with the Linden Bar event last week. I want to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful volunteers, as without them we wouldn’t be able to bring you these events. Everyone has busy lives and commitments, but they step in when needed to help, and it is very much appreciated.
Sponsored Read
Thank you to everyone who took part in this event. We were blown away by the amount raised which exceeded all other years at a staggering £2063! With the additional 60% that we are given by Usborne on top of this, and from the contributions related to the Book Fair, this means that the school have a whopping £3619 to spend on new books for the school. This is truly amazing.
We will be reviewing the minutes read by all children that submitted their forms over the Easter holiday and more information will follow on the this at the start of next term.
Book Fair
Thank you to everyone that came to support the Book Fair, the pod was very busy indeed. Your purchases helped to grow the figure above and contribute to the books for the school.
Linden Bar - Easter
We ran this event over two days last week and following the success of last year (when we sold out) we more than doubled the number of bars of chocolate available to purchase. The hard work with buying and wrapping 1400 bars paid off as this time, everyone that wished to purchase a bar was able to. We also significantly increased the number of prizes available to be won and included some star prizes as well.
It was fantastic to see so many happy children when they found a golden egg. Whether they won the star cash prize or an Easter hamper, a voucher or a toy from the selection box, trim trail time or a hot chocolate treat… the list went on.
Thank you to our sponsors and parents who helped by donating cash prizes, Easter baskets and other prizes - Linden Glazing, Tesco, Morrisons and Wheatleys Whippy.
Thank you also to Mrs Collins for providing a large number of the very popular in school prizes and thank you to all the staff that supported these in school.
To our amazing volunteers who helped with planning behind the scenes, purchasing and wrapping bars day and night, moving bars to where they needed to be, making up hampers, picking up prizes and helping at the event - Thank You.
Lastly, thank you to the children and parents who came along to help make this the success that it was.
Summer Fair
The date has been set for our biggest event of the year - Tuesday 1st July.
We need helpers - lots of helpers - for it to go ahead. Please, please get in touch if you can help in any way at all. Without more helpers we may not be able to run it this year, which would be a huge shame. As well as parents, we welcome help from grandparents and other extended family and friends. Email us at [email protected] to find out more.
Raffle Prizes
If you have any contacts at a company that could help with donating a raffle prize for our Summer Fair Raffle, perhaps through work or friends, please get in touch.
Fundraising
As well as donating the books, through the sponsored read event, and the class dictionaries purchased last term, we are currently raising money to help the school fund some new IT equipment for the children to use. The money raised from recent events such as the Linden Bar event and future upcoming events will go towards helping with this. Thank you for continuing to support our events, which enable us to help the school with funding projects where needed.
Happy Easter and Easter Treat
We have arranged for a small Easter gift to be given to all the children in school today. Thank you to Aldi for helping with a donation of some of the items for this.
We hope that the children enjoy the treat and that you all have a wonderful Easter break. We wish you a Happy Easter and look forward to seeing you all at our next event.
