Dear Parents & Carers,
What a fantastic end to our week we have had – we all loved celebrating World Book Day yesterday. Our theme for the day was ‘Paddington Bear’ and we began our day with a whole-school assembly, followed by a live BBC lesson and Paddington related activities. Throughout the day, children and staff put down their work, stopped whatever they were doing and picked up their books to read. This afternoon, we came together to watch ‘Paddington In Peru’. Each child has been given a book token that can be redeemed at a range of retailers www.worldbookday.com/participating-retailers, with many exciting books on offer.
I would like to say a massive well done to our Year 4 children and staff who attended the Young Voices Concert in Birmingham last Thursday – they had a long but fabulous day and they all sang their hearts out. Another well done to the group of Year 5 children who took part in the ‘YMCA Sleep Easy Challenge’ today. The children were able to find out more about the work of YMCA Cheltenham and how they support those who need them. They completed a challenge of designing and creating shelters for some of the YMCA team to sleep in!
Next week is Science week and there will be all sorts taking place in and out of the classrooms, so watch out for some interesting photographs in the next newsletter.
Have a great weekend, fingers crossed the sunshine remains.
Lucy Collins

Last week some of our Year 4 Children took part in the Young Voices concert, we are delighted to be able to share some photographs with you.
Last week we came into school and noticed the playground was a mess. Someone or something came in the night once the teachers had gone home and moved all of our toys and spread them over the playground. They left footprints and pants around the playground.
We became investigators and detectives to try and look for clues and find out who was to blame. Later in the week we found out it was the Aliens who love underpants who came, they crash landed in our playground and went hunting for pants! We are now learning all about their story and space.
We enjoyed celebrating World Book day. We completed lots of different Paddington Bear activities, including; colouring in Paddington Bear, making an EYFS collage of Paddington and making our own Paddington Bear masks.
Year 6 have really enjoyed their last World Book Day at Linden. They have all delighted in the general excitement of the day, taking part in the Footy and Booky Quiz as well as creating their own Paddington stories to share with Reception this afternoon.

Sponsored Read
The Sponsored Read is running until Monday 10th March. Please continue to log all minutes that your children read on the Reading Logs.
If you are able to collect any sponsorship money, it would be gratefully received and will be used to purchase new books for the school.
Additionally, Usborne books will kindly give us some free books on top. The more sponsorship money raised, the greater the percentage amount we will receive free.
After the sponsored read event ends on Monday, please send all sponsorship money into school via your child’s class by Friday 14th March 2025. Please put the money in an envelope, with your child’s name and class number written on it. Please also send in the completed reading log/sponsor form.
Book Fair
We are holding a Book Fair in conjunction with Usborne after school on Friday 14th March. This will tie in with the end of our Sponsored Read event. You will be able to browse a selection of books and place orders for free delivery to the school. Orders placed at this event will help to contribute towards the free books we can provide to school.
Linden Bar - Golden Egg
We are busy with the preparations for the Linden Bar event. These will be available to purchase on Tuesday 1st April and Thursday 3rd April. We were blown away by the demand last year at our first time of running the event and are making plans to significantly increase our stock this year. Put the dates in your diaries, and join us to purchase a Linden Bar. Will you find a Golden Egg to exchange for a prize?

Volunteers
Could you help with our Linden Bar event? We are looking for more helpers on Tuesday 1st April and Thursday 3rd April to help the event run smoothly.
If you could help with this, or any of our other events, please get in touch via [email protected] or comment on posts on the Linden Parents page (an unofficial Facebook group run by parents).
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
