Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of the year, the festive spirit is well and truly alive here at Linden School. Our little ones in Key Stage 1 have been busy bees, preparing and rehearsing for their much-anticipated Christmas Nativity and we can't wait to see their performance! Meanwhile, Key Stage 2 are gearing up for their annual carol concerts in the last week of term and again, we are looking forward to celebrating these with our Linden families – fingers crossed for no rain!
Looking ahead to next week, we have some exciting adventures planned. Our Year 3 children will be taking a walk to our local church for an 'Explore Christmas' experience, where they'll have the opportunity to learn more about the traditions and history behind this special time of year. In addition, some of our Key Stage 2 classes have been invited to attend the Ribston Hall High School Christmas performance. It's a fantastic opportunity for them to see some of their old Linden peers in action and be inspired by their talent and dedication. To end our week, we will be holding our class Oracy heats – we can’t wait to see who will be going through to the Key Stage semi-finals.
Finally, as we approach the end of the year, we kindly request that you check the calendar and diary dates for upcoming events. We have a lot of exciting activities planned for the final weeks, and we wouldn't want anyone to miss out. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the school office.
Best Wishes
Lucy Collins

Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper Day - Wednesday 18th December
On Wednesday 18th December it is Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper Day. Please see below for full information.
Please note that we will only be offering Christmas Dinner on the above date. There will be NO option to order a jacket potato.
Please note: Webforms must be completed by Wednesday 11th December. Any orders processed after this date will not be processed.
Just a quick reminder our school expectation is that you read with your children at least 3 times a week. This is essential for developing their reading skills.
To make learning spellings fun please see the ideas below as some strategies to support them with their weekly homework.
On the 21st November 2024, some of our children took part in a Cross Country Championship. It was a freezing cold day but they did very well!
Henley placed 10th in the year 5 boys' race and Neveah came 3rd in the year 5 girls' race!
The children in EYFS had a great fun wrapping up warm when the snow came. We all went outside and played in it before the sun melted it away. When we came back in we had hot chocolate and marshmallows to warm up whilst watching Frozen planet and seeing all the animals that live in the snow.
Year 1 have been learning about World War I in history. They have had the opportunity to explore some historical artefacts from the Wilson Museum in Cheltenham.
They were able to try a helmet and jacket belonging to a soldier from the Gloucester Regiment. There were lots of other interesting artefacts and paperwork linked to that period of time.
As part of Forces in Science, Year 5 have designed and made their own parachutes, with the challenge of the parachute falling the slowest and keeping the egg from breaking!
We had lots of different designs but the most successful parachutes were those that had the largest surface area as these created the most air resistance!
We had lots of fun testing our parachutes on our trim trail! Some of eggs survived!!
This week, Year 6 have been busy trying establish the means and motive for a crime in Fairytale Land. This ended, on Thursday morning, with the trial of Little Red Riding Hood in our very own Linden Court. We all had great fun playing out our roles and theories in court. We can't wait to write newspaper reports all about the experience, next week.
